Imagine a community in the Mason area that is united!
Imagine every Jewish household in the Northern corridor is bound together as one family unit!

Together we can do just that. Please read on:

What is community, and what does it mean for us today? In the centuries of wandering and persecution that our people have endured, there are two things that held us together and kept the legacy alive for us today: Our sense of community and our Torah.

JDC’s Legacy project is about bringing these two cornerstones together to continue the legacy here in Mason for our children and grandchildren. It’s about uniting the Jewish families that make Mason our home by writing a new Torah scroll together for our community - an event occurring in our community for the first time ever.

This Community Torah is currently being handwritten by a Sofer (master scribe) in Israel especially for the Jewish Community of the Northern Corridor. It represents a unique opportunity to express our bond with our past, our collective future, and the land of Israel.

The Jewish people are compared to the letters of the Torah. In our tradition, no letter is more important than another. As the letters of the Holy Torah are dependent upon one another for its completion, so is each Jew linked with all Jews in an indissoluble chain. Similarly, the Torah we are writing as an expression of our unity will not be complete without you.

Please participate in this project by sponsoring a section in honor of a family member or friend, or dedicate a section in memory of a beloved parent or loved one. Invite your friends and family to join as well. Our goal is that every man, woman, and child should have a part in this Community Torah to make it truly complete. Download the brochure which lists different options available. Your donation is tax-deductible and, if made this week, receipts will be issued in time for 2010 tax filings.

Imagine the pride you will feel when we open the Ark and celebrate festivals and milestones with a Torah that is the product of our entire community’s involvement. This beautiful scroll will be an eternal remembrance, and will signify our commitment to the unity and continuity of our people. By your participation in this project, without regard to affiliation or religious observance, you will send a powerful message to our community, to our children: That the legacy of the Jewish people is thriving in Mason, Ohio, as it has throughout our history.

Join us today! Thank you!
