AREA CENTER OFFERS
TRENDY PASSOVER PROGRAMS
Learn Ancient Secrets to True Freedom
The Jewish Discovery Center (www.JDiscovery.com), the area’s “Center for Jewish Life,” is offering an opportunity for those in the Jewish community to attain “true freedom” in advance of the upcoming Jewish holiday of Passover.
The center’s Adult Hebrew School program is introducing “Climb Higher,” an expose into the true definition of freedom according to ancient mystics. The center’s website (JDiscovery.com) touts this class as offering an eye-opening look at what the holiday of Passover is really about, discover the inner meaning of the Seder, the secret behind the mystery of Matzah, and the true definition of "freedom" in modern daily living.
“In contemporary society, we are often subjugated to our basic instincts, habits and inclinations,” said Rabbi Yosef Kalmanson, the center’s executive director and presenter of the class. “Passover teaches us that true freedom cannot be imposed – it must come from within. Learn how to reclaim your freedom and maximize your happiness at this unique holiday class.”
The class will take place on Monday, April 6, 7:30-9 p.m. at The Jewish Discovery Center, the neighborhood center for the Jewish community, 7587 Central Parke Blvd., Mason. Topics covered will include the mystical meaning of Matzah; The particulars of the Seder; and Freedom and Self-awareness.
The center, which serves the entire Jewish community in Butler, Warren and northern Hamilton counties, has rolled out a host of additional programming to capture the essence of the holiday. Their popular pre-holiday crash course will cover the basics of Passover and meaning behind its traditions (Apr. 6); a revolutionary “Passover Family Experience” premiers the region’s only interactive museum on Passover, featuring experiential displays for hands-on learning about the history and traditions of the holiday (Apr. 1); a “Sun Blessing” Ceremony marks the once-in-28-year opportunity to witness the sun reverting its course to the place it began at the time of creation (Apr. 8); the area’s only “Burn your Bread” ceremony offers an opportunity to rid the Chametz leaven from one’s possession (Apr. 8); their annual Communal Family Seder features an interactive atmosphere, integrated with Chassidic tale, song and humor and a catered full course traditional meal (Apr. 9); and the Passover Bowl will bring Jewish families together to celebrate in a fun environment (Apr. 12).
The entire community is welcome to attend these events.
