The Jewish Discovery Center presents P.O.P.S. (Parents of Preschoolers), open to parents of preschool-aged children. The goal of P.O.P.S. is to bring together parents of children 1 – 5 years old for family and adult activities, creating unity within the Jewish community.
“It is an opportunity for parents to come together and get to know each other better, while having fun,” said P.O.P.S. Chairperson Laura Rossey, a former public school teacher and current parent of two preschoolers at Chai Tots Early Childhood Center. “One of the things I love about Chai Tots is that it is not only fun for our children, but for our family too. We are excited to launch this expanded venture for parents in the entire community.”
Monthly events include: “Parents Night Out” in October, "Scholastic & Jewish Book Fair" in Novemeber, “Chanukah Family Game Night” in December; “Shabbat Family Dinner” in January; “Kids Cook" in February; and "Purim Carnival" in March. A plethora of additional programming will include lectures, drop-off babysitting and services geared to parents of preschoolers.
Membership is free and open to the entire Jewish community regardless of affiliation or where one’s preschooler is enrolled. “We encourage parents to become members, and provide input and ideas on additional offerings and services to make family life easier and fun,” said Rossey.
