We are off to a great start in the Montessori class!  We are lucky to have such a wonderful group of new students to enrich our class this year.  The children have already settled into a routine and are trying out all the new works in the classroom.  For the first few weeks we are concentrating on learning how to work as a community and helping the students to feel comfortable in their new environment.  It is really amazing to watch our new students serving themselves snack with such pride and displaying proper manners while they socialize with a friend at the snack table.  We are so happy with how well they are all engaging in the environment.

We have a lot for which to look forward in September.  Our themes next month are bees and apples, in honor of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  We have several works in our science area describing the bees’ anatomy, and the different types of bees.  At circle time we have been discussing how special bees are, their unique characteristics and how the bee and bee keeper work together to produce the honey that we all enjoy. Did you know that bees taste using their front legs as well as their tongues? We are looking forward to the beekeeper coming to give us a live demonstration. (Date to be announced).

For our apple unit we will be learning about the life cycle of an apple and the students will make a delicious apple treat in our Junior Chefs workshop. Multi sensory works will be taught using apples, as well as as polling, graphing, tasting etc.

We have several events coming up in the month of September to share with you.

Please note, the most effective mode of communication between school and parents, is via email. Please make note of the directors email address: [email protected] . It is of utmost importance that you read any emails you receive from Chai Tots. We will also be placing a Communication Folder in your child’s back pack to send home your child’s work and for communiqué requiring a paper copy. So please check this folder in your child’s back pack daily.

Enjoy the long weekend with your family, see you all on Tuesday.
