Dear Parents,

We had a very festive week! We began discussing all about the holiday of Purim. We met the characters of the Purim story, King Achashveirosh, Queen Esther, Uncle Mordechai and Haman.

The story of Purim, which took place in Shushan, is written in a book called Megillat Esther. We have been hard at work in our art center, making some beautiful crafts. We started making our masks and graggers.

We have also been wearing crowns and Haman's hats while reading the Purim story from our Big Purim Book.

Upcoming Events:
* Next week is Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Week and we will be concentrating on reading some of his books. If you have any books by Dr. Seuss that your child enjoys or that you would like us to read, please feel free to send them in. Additionally, in the spirit we will be celebrating "Pajama Day" on Monday, March 2. Send your child to school in pajamas for a fun Dr. Seuss Pajama Party.
* On Thursday, March 5, our class will have "Purim Parent’s Day." Please join our class from 9:45-10:45 am to enjoy a fun time in the classroom with your child. Even if your child is not regularly scheduled to be in school for this time, please join us with your child.
* Take your Jewish knowledge to the next level. Join a crash course for adults in the basics of Purim and the meaning behind its traditions. Rabbi Yosef Kalmanson will shed light on the spiritual aspects of this joyous holiday, and discuss its practical laws and customs. Monday, March 9, 9:15am-9:45am, at the Jewish Discovery Center.
* Don’t miss out on the fun… Join the "Family Purim Carnival" on March 10 from 2:00-4:00pm. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with Carnival Booths, Megilla Reading, a Children Purim Skit, Masquerade, Hamantash Snacks and much more!
