Dear Parents,

Hope you had a great week. We certainly did.

This week we continued talking about trees.

We discussed the importance of the different parts of a tree. The roots grow under the ground and they have tiny hairs that take water and minerals from the soil and feed it to the tree. Roots also help anchor the tree into the ground.

We enjoyed our science project: we took four cups of water and added a different color to each cup. We put a celery stick into each one and every day watch as the coloring slowly travels up the stalks. Watching this helps us understand how the roots draw water up from the soil and into the tree.

This week we enjoyed reading and discussing the book “The Giving Tree” by: Shel Silverstein

Thank you Lorin for the delicious Shabbat treat and for donating a DVD player to our school.
