Dear Parents,
This week was dedicated to the holiday of Tu B’shvat, the birthday of the trees. We talked about how important trees are to us and what role they play in our lives. Trees give us wood to make houses, furniture, and paper. Many different types of healthy and yummy fruit grow on trees. They also provide shade in the summer and a home for so many animals.
During circle time we pretended to be trees, we started off as just a little seed and slowly we grew bigger and bigger growing branches and leaves and we finally becoming a full grown tree.
We introduced the Seven Species that grow in Israel: wheat, barley, figs, dates, grapes, olives and pomegranates. We saw pictures of them and will get to taste how yummy some of them are.
We enjoyed reading the book “The Giving Tree” by: Shel Silverstein.
Monday, February 9 is Tu B’shvat and we will be planting some seeds and learning how to take care of them. Just like people need many things to keep them alive trees do as well. We will to discuss how we can help the trees and plants to continue growing strong.
The school is in need of a dvd player. If you would like to donate this gift to our school please let us know.
Have a wonderful Shabbat.
