Dear Parents,
We hope you had a fun time in the snow during the days that you were at home. Though our week was short we had a wonderful time in our Winterland. We have been learning all about the season of winter, what we need to wear and how we can keep safe.
A coat, hat, scarf and gloves are what we need to wear to keep us warm when we go outside. Sometimes the roads get slippery, we need to make sure to always wear our seat belts and drive slowly and carefully.
We discussed the different shapes and sizes of the snowflakes and what different activities we can do with snow: snowballs, snowmen, snow angels and playing outside in the snow.
At circle time we had a great time singing some silly songs like The Snoky Poky and Ring Around the Snowman.
In the art center we used shaving cream which looks like snow. We made a shiny snowman, a snowy snowman and a three circle snowman.
We continued to discuss the water cycle and how when it is warm outside the snow and ice melts and when it is cold it freezes. During science we did some experiments to portray this. We filled an ice tray with water, put it into the freezer and the next day when we checked on it there was no water in the tray, it had turned to ice. We took the ice cubes and put them into hot water and watched them melt.
We have been reading a lot of different books in our library. Some of our favorites are Fun in the Snow by: Laura Damon, Little Snowflakes Big Adventure by Steve Melzger and Millions of snowflakes by Mary Mckenna Siddals.
Have a wonderful Shabbat and stay warm!
