Dear Parents,

There are seven weeks between Passover and Shavuot and that is why the holiday of Shavuot has its name which means “Weeks.”

Using the flannel board we looked at mountains of all different sizes and learned that G‑d chose the smallest mountain, Mount Sinai, to give us the Ten Commandments and the Torah. We learned the story of how all the mountains complained and asserted that they wanted the Torah to be given on them, but Hashem chose the small plain mountain called Mount Sinai. This little mountain did not complain like the other mountains, as it remained humble, and the Torah was given on it to teach us the value of humility.

Moshe went to the top of Mount Sinai to receive the Torah from Hashem. After 40 days Moshe came down the mountain with the 10 commandments.

We talked about eating dairy foods on Shavuot like cheese cake and ice cream. Yummy!

During art we decorated the Mount Sinai with flowers.

We have been reading the book “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” By Eric Carl, and have been enjoying the activities that go along with it.

Enjoy the long weekend. Looking forward to seeing you back in school on Tuesday.

Shabbat Shalom!
