Dear Parents,

We hope you had a meaningful and uplifting Rosh Hashanah.

Yom Kippur is almost here and we have been discussing the importance of the day, how Hashem weighs our good and bad deeds and saying I’m sorry to our friends.

The children know the story of Jonah and the whale and will enjoy relating it over to you.

We have begun our Sukkot preparations as well. When the Jews traveled in the desert after leaving Egypt they were protected on all sides by G‑d’s “Clouds of Glory”. To commemorate the clouds we build a four-sided hut, which is used for the week of Sukkot.

One of the special Sukkot mitzvot is the mitzvah of the "Four Kinds" - the lulav, etrog, myrtle and willow. This is a mitzvah like any other mitzvah of the Torah, but it is significant as it represents unity and harmony. When the blessings are recited over them, it is customary to wave them to all the four winds and also upward and downward, signifying that G‑d is everywhere.

For the holiday of Sukkot the students enjoyed making their own sukkah and will be creating their own edible sukkah.

This week is Fire Safety Week and we look forward to having our special visitor join us.
